Off to Chicago!
Last year our family went to Myrtle Beach.
This year,
my wife and the kids wanted to go to Chicago.
Why Chicago?
None of us has ever been to Chicago
- although I've been through it - without stopping.
And it's not real far for us,
so we won't be buying a lot of gas.
As I said,
my wife and the kids wanted to go to Chicago.
I don't mind going, but there's other places I'd rather go.
The boys are in awe of everything
that's cities and skyscrapers.
In other words, architecture.
My wife loves big cities
and I'm sure will love shopping in Chicago.
We thought about going to NYC or DC,
but we don't want to overwhelm the kids at this age.
We wanted to try a smaller city first on them.
If they love Chicago, I'd like to take them to DC.
DC's great and I'm sure they'd love it...
if they don't get real tired
and start to whine in the first 10 minutes!
So, we're packing now
and leaving tomorrow morning.
I won't be blogging for several days.
I'll post when I get back to say how it went.

Have a great time! I've never been to Chicago either (except the airport to change planes) and would like to go sometime too.
Have a fun trip.
I haven't checked in on you for a while & just wanted to say HAVE A GREAT & SAFE TIME!!!
Enjoy!
I want to go to Chicago too.
I hear they have some great urban blues clubs
you're right, it's a great, larger city to "try out" before moving on to the really overwhelming ones. you're already gone as i write this, but i hope you're having a wonderful time!
Hope you're having fun! L.A.'s supposed to be a big city, but there aren't too many large buildings unless you go to downtown. It's more like lights and people of questionable morals living in Hollywood. Or (if you want to try the other side of the city,) shootings. Yeah. Just stick to the coast around LAX. We're mellow on the coast around LAX. Even though LAX provides a nice, juicy target for terrorism.
Y'know, maybe you just shouldn't visit L.A. There are much cooler places to see. Like Chicago!
